R·A23

Asturias, 2023.

R·A23 is a restoration project in Asturias that transforms a small hamlet composed of five buildings and two traditional hórreos into a private residence. The interplay of varying heights and the connections between structures are key to the design, with a central square emerging as the main gathering space and point of articulation among the buildings. The intervention preserves and respects the original elements —such as stone and clay roof tiles— while introducing carefully proportioned wooden openings to maximize natural light. Though discreet, the transformation is meticulously conceived: it preserves the essence of local architecture while incorporating a contemporary sensibility that lends the ensemble an elegant and harmonious character.
